Arts on Tap

Dock Street South - Tap Room

You’re invited to the Dock Street South’s private tap room for an evening where the craft brews and art will be on tap ;) With two back-to-back interactive performances these artists will give you a bit of everything: soulful and vitalizing vocals, percussive rhythms, and powerful poetry. Each artist set will be paired with a featured libation you can purchase, hand-selected by the brewery and inspired by the performance you will experience.

Express yourself and channel your inner artist with a FREE pastel drawing class, hosted by Artsi Philly in partnership with Brandywine Realty Trust. Picture Me Philly is an outdoor pastel drawing series open to all levels. Taught by visual artist Jessica O’Neill, this class teaches essentials of landscape and cityscape drawing and different pastel drawing techniques that will expand your range of artistic expression. On Friday, April 14th get dressed up and meet us at the Philadelphia Ethical Society, across Rittenhouse Square, for a classy night of opera. Evening features soprano Sage DeAgro-Ruopp, baratone Patrick Wilhelm & pianist Ting Ting Wong. This collaborative program is theatrical, playful and intimate, no doubt taking you on a musical journey as you enjoy selections from our bar. The more operatic first half will feature scores composed by Mozart, Donizetti, Massenet, and Gounod. Koresh Dance - Black Box Theater

On Saturday, August 13th, Artsi presents “Philly Summer Tablao” featuring the city’s very own premier contemporary flamenco dance company, Pasión y Arte. Whether you love Flamenco or are entirely new to its traditions, this passionate and spirited gathering of the Tablao is a unique opportunity to learn more about and fall in love with this vibrant art form. “The Same Changes", Vol I” is a collection of stories—Connor’s thoughts, experiences, and reflections manifested as moments in time. These stories are meant to vividly conjure images and realities, to connect a broader community through experience shared and related.

With a little help from my friends…we can support the Philadelphia arts community. On Friday, March 11th Artsi is partnering with Philadelphia-based filmmaker Emily Dabney to put on a fundraiser to support her next short film venture going into production Summer of 2022. Creating art requires time, talent, but also financial resources & Artsi (along with some friends = YOU) is excited to stand behind the creation of local art. Evening will feature a series of short films from fellow filmmakers, followed by short Q&As with the artists. Space will also be transformed into a gallery displaying art for sale from local artists. Event is BYOB, with light concessions provided.

Ajibola is a Nigerian-Cherokee performing artist of many talents. He has received classical training as a cellist and is a self-taught bass guitarist and composer. He has a number of works in development, and between works he performs professionally in collaboration with various artists all along the East Coast of the United States.

The Voices of Women in Flamenco

Join Pasion y Arte, Philadelphia’s premier all female contemporary flamenco dance company,  for an evening celebrating the distinct voices of women in flamenco through contemporary and tablao flamenco.  This special evening will combine contemporary flamenco choreographed by PyA Artistic Director, Elba Hevia y Vaca, with the recreation of the intimate cafe-like atmosphere, called tablao, where flamencos showcased their dancing before the art form was institutionalized into more theatrical performances. The Voices of Women in Flamenco will feature PyA’s ensemble of flamenco artists from Philadelphia and New York including, Elba Hevia y Vaca, Sol “La Argentinita”, Raphael Brunn, Sara Candela, Leilani Chirino, Kumiko Koide, and Barbara Martinez.

Artist Exposed: John Singletary

At this December’s Artsi Event, photographer, John Singletary, will be showing work from his ongoing and critically acclaimed series, Anahata. This photography-based multimedia project is a collaborative effort between dancer artists, theater performers, digital technicians and costume designers. Displayed on OLED electronic canvases in a dimly lit space, the dramatic imagery with musical accompaniment pulses with a gentle glow which creates an immersive experience that transcends our preconceived notionations of photography. The multi-panel work entitled, Providence, will be on display, spanning over 30 feet of North Liberties Open Space Gallery.

What does a world look like where the healing of black queer womxn and femmes is the priority? 

On Saturday October 13th, black queer womxn and femmes will explore this question so that we can continue building this world. We invite you to this intimate evening where community is necessary, and listening is urgent. This is a grandmothers living room, a great-grandmothers stoop, a siblings kitchen. We will story here, dance here, and hold one another's quiet with our softest hands. 

So Come, take off your shoes, and stay a while.

“The Gathering: an Artsi nightlife experience” – Where Friday night at the bar and evening at the theater meet. On August 24th, bring your circle of friends to the Sculpture Courtyard for a classy immersive art party experience. Guests will enjoy an open bar, hor d’ouevres and site-specific art produced by Philadelphia’s finest. The evening will include works curated by Evalina Wallis Carbonell (dance), Fox Rivers (Cello), Ashley Davis (Poetry), Jessica Cantone/Connor O'Neill (Vocal/Guitar), and Angi Vita (Visual Artist)!!

We are also excited to welcome DJ Kevin Ngo who will playing a set at the end of the evening to take care of your dancing needs.

The evening will include works curated by Shanel Edwards (Poet), John Levis (Keyboardist, Improviser, Composer), Tim Motzer (Guitarist, Improviser), Nikolai McKenzie (Dance Artist), Frank Leone/FAGL ROQ (Performance Artist) and Charles Schultz Phindie (Illustrator of Dance/Theater/Opera in Sketch). A night out wouldn’t be complete without some live music brought to you by Jessica Cantone & Connor O'Neill  along with DJ Kevin Ngo taking care of your dance floor needs.
